At the same time, it's calming and energising. I've only lately heard of ginger tea, despite the fact that it has been a popular beverage for generations. I adore it! Since I like the flavour of fresh ginger, I've started drinking ginger tea, but it has far more benefits than just flavour.

On chilly days, ginger tea makes a nice, somewhat spicy beverage to warm you up. It serves as a refreshing, alcohol-free substitute for a nightcap. If you overindulge this holiday season, it calms irritated stomachs and reduces indigestion.

For chilly weather, ginger tea is a comforting beverage. It makes for a pleasant morning or afternoon pick-me-up as well as a soothing evening beverage. Try ginger tea if you want a fall beverage that isn't as heavy as hot chocolate sometimes is!

METHOD: How To Make Ginger Tea

I tried a few different ways to make ginger tea, and the simplest option was actually the best. This is how you do it:

  • Slice your fresh ginger very thinly. It doesn't need to be peeled beforehand, but you should clean it and scrape any dirt that is visible off. For each cup of tea, use a piece of ginger that is approximately one inch long.
  • Combine the ginger with new water in a saucepan (use one cup of water per serving).
  • High heat is used to bring the mixture to a boil. To maintain a slow simmer, lower the heat as needed.
  • five minutes of simmering (or up to 10 minutes, if you want extra-strong tea). Usually, I feel like five minutes is when it becomes sufficiently strong.
  • In order to remove all of the ginger, strain the tea through a fine sieve. For a complimentary acidity, you can serve your tea with a thin round of lemon or orange. Another option that will help to tame the spicy ginger flavour is a thin drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

MORE Variations of ginger tea

Ginger-Cinnamon Tea: To add additional comforting flavour, simply add a cinnamon stick to your tea before bringing it to a simmer.

Ginger-Turmeric Tea: Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties in addition to giving off a lovely orange colour and a spicy, interesting flavour. Cut fresh turmeric into thin slices and add them to the ginger and water combination in the same manner you would fresh ginger.

Ginger-Mint Tea: The cooling effect of fresh mint counteracts the warming effect of fresh ginger. Before simmering the mixture, add a couple of sprigs of fresh mint.

NOTE: VEGETARIANIZE IT: Use maple syrup, not honey, at all costs. ADVANCE PREPARATION: If you want to create a huge amount, double the recipe as needed. Allow leftovers to cool to room temperature before covering and storing in the fridge for up to 4 days. Consume cold or heat for hot tea. GINGER LEFT OVER? For later usage, ginger can be frozen. You should slice the ginger thinly before freezing if you plan to use it for tea later. Alternatively, for maximum adaptability, freeze it entire.
